The LeapYear Experience

Ask great questions. Learn by doing.

LeapYear helps answer the question, “Who are you becoming?” – to help you discover who you are, what you love, and where you want to go.

Outcomes

Who you are becoming

We measure success by the person you become. By the end of this year, you will be:
Confident

prototypes, projects, and proof of what you've tested and learned

High Agency

a decision-making process you'll use for the rest of your life

Deeply Known

a demanding, real-world project that demonstrates what you're now capable of

Authentic Leader

your current answer to "What is my role in God's mission?"

Spiritually Grounded

the spiritual practices that will sustain you long after this year ends

“Little did I know that these people I met would end up being some of the most amazing people I could ask to walk through the next year with.”
The 3 Strands

What You'll Learn

Our curriculum is an integrated weave of three core strands. You don't take these as separate "classes"—you live them simultaneously.
01. Career Design

The career flywheel helps answer one of life’s difficult questions, "What should I do with my life?"

Know Yourself
Get Curious
Focus
Talk to People
Try Stuff
Reflect
Repeat
You will run this cycle repeatedly, conducting professional interviews, launching prototypes, and building a portfolio of real work. You stop "planning" and start "designing."
02. Leadership Foundations

The world is full of people with credentials but no character. We start with the latter.

Lead Self
Lead Others
Lead Change
Lead Self: It starts with personal rhythms. You can't lead others if you can't manage your own time.
Lead Others: You will lead your peers through collaborative projects where you have no positional authority.
Lead Change: You will cast vision and mobilize resources to solve real problems.
03. Spiritual Formation

Create practices and a rule of life that’s the antidote to the attention economy and anxiety.

Create a robust "Rule of Life".
The Story: We move through the story of the Gospel: Creation, Fall, Redemption, and Restoration.
The Practice: You will practice ancient disciplines—Silence, Examen, Sabbath, and Hospitality—that help you resist the "counterfeit stories" of our culture and find your identity in God.
What You'll Do

The Rhythm of the Year

The year is designed in three distinct seasons, moving from inward reflection to outward action.
Fall
Phase 1: Foundations
Know Yourself
We start with a Launch Retreat (no phones, deep community). You strip away the noise, run your first "Curiosity Sprints", and learn to tell your story.

The Know Yourself Artifact—creating a synthesis of your wiring, values, and aptitudes.
Spring
Phase 2: Exploration
Solution-Based Experiments
You move from looking inward to looking outward. You identify "aches" in the world and design projects to address them. You deepen your professional network through the "12 Conversation Challenge".

The International Service Trip. This isn't a pre-packaged tour. Your cohort must plan, fund, and lead this trip entirely on your own.
Summer
Phase 3: Application
Execution & Capstone
You execute a high-fidelity Capstone Project—independent work that demonstrates mastery of your skills and direction.

The Showcase. You present your portfolio and journey to mentors, family, and the community.
