You've been asked the wrong question

At 18, the world narrows. Suddenly every conversation is the same question wearing different clothes. What's your major? Where are you applying? What's the plan?

Those questions matter. But they're limiting — and if you're not careful, they'll put you in a box before you've had a chance to explore what's actually inside you. You don't need to feel pressure to make a massive commitment before you've had a chance to discover answers to some much bigger questions first.

Questions like: Who are you? What do you love? What are you great at? What does the world need from someone like you?

And the one question we hope you'll carry for the rest of your life: who are you becoming?

Your Cultural Moment

You are coming of age at an inflection point. The challenges facing your generation are real and unprecedented — broken education models that feel more like factories than formation, a leadership vacuum in nearly every institution that matters, an attention economy that feeds off your focus and gives back nothing of substance, and an explosion of artificial intelligence that is reshaping the world faster than anyone can keep up with.

You've been handed labels that don't fit. Anxious. Fragile. Distracted. Behind. That's not who you were made to be.

This moment is not just defined by its problems. It's defined by its opportunity. There has never been a greater need for people who know who they are — people who have invested in becoming equipped, who can lead with character, and who bring genuine creativity and humanness to a world that feels increasingly artificial.

Your generation has the chance to be the one that brings color back. That refuses the gray, efficient, machine-driven version of life and builds something beautiful in its place.

We think of it as a new Renaissance. And we built LeapYear to equip you to lead it.

Not sure where to start? Start here.

Every Renaissance needs people who come alive in different ways. Some people come alive when they're understanding deep truths about the human condition. Others come alive when they're rallying people around a vision bigger than all of them. Some come alive when they're making something from nothing. Others come alive in the presence of beauty, or in the thrill of a place they've never been, or in the quiet moment when someone across the table finally feels known.

The way you come alive is specific to you. There is a particular way that you engage the world — a drive, an orientation, a posture toward reality — that is as unique as your fingerprint and as central as your heartbeat.

We built a free assessment to help you find yours. In about 13 minutes, you'll get a profile that names your primary drive — the way you come alive — along with a secondary drive that creates the specific tension and richness of who you are.

It's a first step. A good one. But just the first.

What LeapYear Is

One year. Three strands. A foundation for the rest of your life.

LeapYear is a 9-month experience in Austin, Texas for high school graduates who refuse to sleepwalk into the next thing.

You'll master a process for career decisions that you'll use for the rest of your life. You'll learn to lead yourself before you try to lead anyone else. And you'll build spiritual practices that are the antidote to the anxiety and noise of this cultural moment.

But the program isn't really about what you learn. It's about who you become.

We put you in rooms with people living lives worth imitating — not experts giving lectures, but exemplars who show you what it looks like to integrate faith, work, and purpose. You'll live in a tight-knit cohort where people actually know you. You'll run real experiments, take real risks, and build a portfolio of real work. And you'll do all of it with a coach who meets with you every single week.

By the end of the year, you'll have clarity about where you're headed — and the character, skills, and community to get there.

What are students saying about LeapYear?

"Before my gap year I realized that you need to be surrounded by great people and have structure in your life in order to flourish. LeapYear has given me both and I truly feel like I am flourishing."
"I can't imagine a better way to have spent my gap year. In our world of infinite possibility, choosing one thing is hard enough—but facing big decisions in an increasingly complex world is overwhelming. LeapYear taught me to make great decisions for myself rather than waiting for answers. What I learned here will shape the rest of my life."
"I realized I love it when people trust me with important things. That feeling of being relied upon—that's when I come alive. LeapYear helped me name that."
“Before joining LeapYear, I had no aim for the next steps I needed to take with my career, my education, and my habits. Now I’m going to college, I’ve narrowed down my personal curiosities and orientation to a career, and I have a structure over my days, weeks, and months in a way I had never in the past."
"I went from someone who was depressed, anxious, lost, confused, and totally stuck to someone who finds the joy in life, someone who is motivated and excited about their future, and someone who has grown to love people and love God."
